I’ve always been amazed at the power of the weather. Even the slightest change affects our plans and reminds us of a larger something. It’s the default conversation to which everyone can relate. Our bodies rely on it for a sense of seasonal rhythm and it has this power to be disorientating, confusing, comforting, and even scary.
With just a few weeks left of the official Winter season, I’ve felt that sense of disorientation. Our forecast has been peppered with unseasonable stretches of warm weather. We went to the park in our sweatshirts only to have a snow day two days later. I don’t take it as a weather trend, I take it as a caution sign for my beloved North.
I’m embracing the cold for a few more weeks; for if I can’t embrace the cold, I also can’t look forward to hearing the ice crack, the feeling of hot sun on my pale skin, or the first produce from the growing season, rhubarb.
I hope you all had a great weekend! May your week be full of embracing these last fleeting days of winter. Here are my bits of happenings and inspiration for the week:
Currently…
watching: Riverdale. Obsessed. Not sure why.
learning: Allllll about Rochester’s history -stay tuned for something fun I’ve been working on!
wearing: Ugh. Still sweaters on sweaters. BUT this Skagen watch hasn’t left my wrist since my parents gifted it to me for Christmas.
reading: A Man Called Ove. I’m turning the pages as fast as I possibly can. OH and introducing William to Shel Silverstein <heart eyes>.
planning: A last min. Spring break trip to Phoenix! Any tips for traveling with a toddler?
needing: Some new luggage. Either I’ve had terrible judgment when it comes to luggage, or have just been super unlucky, but I’ve gone through two carry-ons in the past two years. I’ve had my eye on a few pieces from the Away collection, but wish I could see it in real life first.
listening: Jeremy Messersmith has been speaking to me lately.
loving: The pre-chopped veggie section at Trader Joes is my ultimate cooking hack. From kale to butternut squash, it’s like a personal prep chef.
eating: So.Many.Salads.
drinking: I’m really trying to embrace green tea.
trying: Bullet Journaling. Turns out I need to physically write things down before they’ll actually get done.
making: Samoa Girl Scout Cookie Freakshakes on demand for Willy….
buying: All of the baby swim trunks for our upcoming trip to AZ. Like these with fishing lures.
happenings this week (roch, mn): Winter Harvest Beer Dinner | Stuffed Animal Sleepover | Sunday Classic Movie | Microbrewery Trolley Tour
