There is a lot of “new” happening in Rochester these days. It’s a city of untapped potential that’s just beginning to catch on supporting local is cool again. One such newcomer, PRIMP, a trendy women’s boutique, opened in November and I was beyond excited to check it out a few weeks ago on Small Business Saturday.
As an (almost) 30 year old, (self proclaimed) trendy young professional and mama, I’ve found the Rochester shopping scene to be lackluster at best and do most of my shopping online. I nearly started singing that Hallelujah chorus as I entered this new shop on 1st Ave, next to the Peace Plaza in the old OB Shoes location.
Based out of the twin cities with six other locations, you can tell the curators of the shop have got it down. Each piece coordinates with many other pieces in the store, encouraging and making outfits easy. They carry a full array of apparel from laid back flannel patterns and denim to fancy pant-sy dresses and tops. Also in stock you’ll find: accessories, perfume, shoes, candles and purses. Most pieces are reasonably priced between $30-$60, but that price tag brings quality and a great fit.
With the trendy displays and awesome staff, the store exudes a upscale minimal meets friendly atmosphere. The staff are quick to greet, friendly and oh so helpful. One of my favorite aspects of the store was the MN vibe spread throughout. From the decor to screen print shirts with “North Country” and “Midwest is Best” logos to dainty MN shaped pendant necklaces, approximately 15% of inventory is from their in-house apparel line, Henry + Martin.
Needless to say, my wallet was a lot lighter as I walked out and I didn’t even feel the slightest pang of buyers remorse. Keep PRIMP in mind for your Christmas shopping for your bff, sister or even yourself! I was so impressed and will be back soon. Rave on Rochester, Rave on!
